Emboldened by yesterday's discovery of built-in survey functionality, I went back to the My Site well again today, and came up with another fine discovery. This one's truly about as simple an end user task/modification as possible but, wow, what a difference it makes on a SharePoint site.
Yes, it's true: I hadn't noticed that there were configurable site themes from which to choose within a My Site. Methinks I'm going to have to spend more time checking out the possibilities inherent in the Site Settings. To find themes, just click your Site Actions tab, and then select the "Edit Settings" option. The Site theme hyperlink appears as an option under the Look and Feel column and, unless I miss my guess, there are 18 options available out-of-the-box from which to choose.
I was surprised to note that my My Site theme was set to the Default theme, as opposed to the custom BambooCorp theme that I would have expected (had I known about the availability of themes, that is). Anyway, I immediately started clicking through the available theme options looking for something that might make my My Site look, well, less like an out-of-the-box SharePoint site.
Near the end of the list of options (which, by the way, are conveniently graphically previewed for you as you scroll through the choices), I hit upon a winner. It's called the Reflector theme, and I proudly present it to you now:

Note: Names of colleagues in my Colleague Tracker Web Part have been blurred to protect the guilty.
