This week marks the end of our
Bamboo Revolution "Let Your Voice Be Heard" contest. Really, the amount of excellent suggestions that we received from the community floored me. Early on, we received an idea - a dating Web Part - and I thought "Oh geez, what have we done!" But, I think that one was definitely in the minority. The best part was definitely taking Web Part suggestions LIVE during the SharePoint Conference in Seattle. I met some great people - doing amazing things with SharePoint. One person that sticks in my mind is Dave Coleman from the Twynham School in the UK. Anyone with kids, like me, knows how important a great website is for parents, teachers, kids. The
Twynham school is what we call in the states "K-12" school.
Their website rivals most universities in it’s content and ease of use.
Yeah, it’s all in SharePoint.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that they are using Bamboo Web Parts by the way.
Password Change and
Password Reset helps them manage parental access to the secure areas of the site (yeah, those parts the kids hate – like grade reports)
Calendar Plus and
Mini Calendar will be put in use next academic year giving parents get an easy view of important school dates.
But, truly the best part of meeting with Dave is his enthusiasm for the technology and his sense of community – extending his knowledge of SharePoint for academic institutions to anyone who wants to learn.
Take a look at the
great document on his the school website detailing how SharePoint is being rolled out at the school. This is just one such conversation that occurred during the days we were in Seattle.
Of course, our
top 5 finalists in the Revolution Contest certainly share the same enthusiasm as Dave Coleman.
Different industries, different requirements, same software.
Pretty cool.
