Bamboo Names Oleson, Fox, Webb & Mixon to Technical Advisory Board

Bamboo Solutions has formed a Technical Advisory Board.  The function of this group is to provide feedback, insight and direction to Bamboo as the company and our product portfolio continue to grow.  We sought out a broad range of expertise and some of the most influential voices in the SharePoint community.  Bamboo is proud to announce the selection of Joel Oleson, Bob Fox, Jeff Webb and Bob Mixon as founding members of the Bamboo Technical Advisory Board.

Bamboo convened the first quarterly meeting of the Technical Advisory Board (TAB) on June 10th, during the week of the Tech Ed North America IT Professional Conference in Orlando.  In attendance were Joel Oleson, Senior Product Manager at Nintex; Bob Fox, Technical Lead at B & R Business Solutions; and Jeff Webb, author of Essential SharePoint 2007.  Bob Mixon, Principal at Mixon Consulting was unable to attend.

Members of the Technical Advisory Board met with Mike Tanner, CEO at Bamboo; Lam Le, Chief Operating Officer; Steve Gaitten, Director of Online Operations; and Wes Bryan, Director of Product Management.

Bamboo presented an overview of the company, a detailed strategic plan and a comprehensive product roadmap.  TAB members responded with commentary, feedback, and suggestions primarily regarding Bamboo's gallery of Web Parts for SharePoint and MashPoint, the new data integration platform for SharePoint.

On behalf of Bamboo, I would like to extend our thanks to each of our new board members for a productive and promising first meeting.  We enjoyed spending time with each of you.  We learned a great deal, and appreciate the unique perspective each of you is able to offer.  We heartily endorse you as business partners and consultative resources to the rest of the SharePoint community.

What's next for the Bamboo Technical Advisory Board?  We are already in the planning stages for our Q3 '08 session.  We are continuing to recruit one or two additional board members.  Interested parties may contact me directly at steve.gaitten@bamboosolutions.com

So, what did our panel of experts tell Bamboo?  How will our company change based on the guidance of this austere tribunal?  Well, much of what was discussed is private and confidential.  However, one major theme for Bamboo is that we need to work harder to communicate the value of all the products we offer.  In general, these individuals were already very familiar with Bamboo, and had often recommended Bamboo products to their clients.  However, when presented with the latest capabilities in an interactive forum, I believe each was very surprised at the completeness and quality of Bamboo Web Parts.

I think it's also fair to say that there was a good bit of excitement about the new products scheduled for release throughout 2008.  There were nearly tears of joy when the full capabilities of Bamboo's new Log Manager Web Part (available at store.bamboosolutions.com on Friday 6/27) were revealed.  There was a very earnest "THANK YOU for building this product" uttered that we found very satisfying.

In business, it can be difficult to maintain perspective and evaluate yourself objectively, as a company or as an individual.  This first meeting of the TAB was a great reminder to me of the value of seeking out an objective third party opinion.  I commend our executive team for investing in the process.  Look for more news about the Bamboo Technical Advisory Board coming soon.
