So we hear you’re coming in town for the Best Practices SharePoint Conference on September 15th -17th. What, you ask, are you going to do when it’s 5pm, the last session has gotten out, and you’ve absorbed all the SharePoint knowledge you can possibly take in for one day? Well, you could go back to the hotel and take the evening to digest the plethora of wisdom that you’ve received, or you could go out and explore the Nation’s Capitol and all it has to offer. Go on, choose the latter.
See DC
One of the things that DC is known for is its collection of (for the most part) free museums that can be easily reached on the metro. Wander the Mall and check the National Museum of Natural History or the International Spy Museum, and when you’re hungry grab a bite to eat at the National Museum of the American Indian. Want to see a live panda? Visit the National Zoo where Tai Shan has recently turned 3. If large, endangered mammals don’t tickle your fancy, reserve some tickets in advance to go up to the Washington Monument’s observation deck, which is open until 10:00 pm, or just walk around to see the lit up memorials and monuments at night.
Take some time to unwind and stop by the Capitol City Brewing Company where happy hour offers $3.50 pints of award-winning house-brewed beers, or snack from a gourmet menu while bowling at Lucky Strike Lanes.
See Tysons
You don’t have to go into the city to enjoy yourself. The Hilton Mclean Tysons Corner Hotel is next to some of the best shopping around, and a mighty fine AMC movie theater. Tysons Galleria hosts many restaurants including Lebanese Taverna, Legal Sea Foods, Maggiano’s and more. If you want some local flavor, check out Jammin’ Java for some live, local music and a bite to eat. If you’re willing to travel a bit further for some legitimate, ethnic fare, let us know and we’ll give you some tips too.
