This Week in Bamboo (Nov 2nd - Nov 8th)

This week Bamboo Solutions launched two major new products (MashPoint and SharePoint Navigators), as well as many additional patch releases.

MashPoint (HW44 R1.0) - Bamboo Solutions launched this product on Friday, November 7th, 2008. We built MashPoint in order to provide our Web Parts with a single unified data access platform that can be used to gather data living both inside and outside of SharePoint. This platform is intended to allow users to define and utilize the same data sources across all of the products in our Web Part product line.  This includes the Bamboo Data-Viewer Web Part, Chart Plus Web Part, Calendar Plus Web Part, Virtual Map View Web Part, Tree View Web Part, and Mini-Calendar Web Part.  In addition, developers can use the MashPoint APIs to author their own .NET applications to link to proprietary data stores. SharePoint Natigators (HW55 R1.0) – Bamboo Solutions launched this product on Friday, November 7th 2008. SharePoint Navigators allow users to create custom menus, tab strips, and Site Actions menus. This product is only available as part of the Suites (Bamboo Ultimate Suite, Bamboo SharePoint Administration Suite and Bamboo Project Management Suite).

SharePoint Custom Column Pack - Bamboo Selectors (HW41AB R1.1.30) -

New Features:
• Provide support for using relative url: use "/" for root. Use "./" for current site.
• Upgrade Procedure: After installation, clear IE cache then go to the List. Click on existing Bamboo Selector or Bamboo Linked Selector columns to edit. Click OK button.

Bugs Fixed:
• Required field does not work for Bamboo Selector or Bamboo Linked Selector columns.
• Cascade Bamboo Linked Selector columns and the 1st one works, but a 2nd and 3rd are failing.
• Problem filtering on Bamboo Linked Selector.
• Multi-Selector problem - Where the main column is a Bamboo Selector and the selections are Bamboo Linked Selector columns only one Bamboo Linked Selector is available to select.
• Filtering on Selector/Linked Selector shows other values.  
• Cannot sort, group by Bamboo Selector/Linked Selector columns.
• Custom columns do not work with custom forms.  

Limitation:
Bamboo Link Selector cannot not be defined as Site Column. We cannot create parent-child relationship of the source List and child List . There is no List to define this relationship in Site Column Gallery.

List Bulk Import (HW18 R1.7.68) -

Bug Fixes:
• Special characters in Column Title.
• CreateNewList error importing from SPv2. 
• Import from SQL DB error: "Path is not of a legal form".
• ErrorDetail does not reflect correct status when import fails. 
• Database grows when import with List item with attachments. Now users can empty the recycle bin or let the system empty it when it reaches the limit size. 

User Management Solution Accelerator (SA01 R1.1.74) –

New Features:
• New Solution Deployment for the frontend install.
• Enabled Shared Licensing. Activation file is now stored at \ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\BambooShared\License folder
 
Bug Fixes:
• MOSS or WSS Heading was displaying incorrectly.
• Licensing user count was incorrect.
• Cloning user did not match Organizational unit.
• People Picker control was losing text on callbacks.
• 64 bit support for UMA backend service installation.

User Account Setup Web Part (HW07 R3.1.77) –

Bug Fixes:
• Password check logic issue regarding space character.
• Error: "Contain characters from three of the following four categories shows 2 times in password policy text."
• Missing fields under the property of the Web Part.
• Create User Button appears on the first step if users are not added to SharePoint group. 
• Problem with "Name and About Me Description" fields for Groups.

Password Reset Web Part (HW10 R2.1.38) -

Bug fixes:
• Error in UC1 - Sample ASP.Net Application Email option   
• Removed Sample Application .Net Use Case #3 from the package

Group E-mail Web Part (HW14 R1.4.10) -

Bug fixed (SPv2):
Using Group Email under SharePoint 2003 does not work. 

Alerts Administrator (HW39 R1.1.57) -

Bug  fixed:
When access alerts that are based on Search results, receive errors.

My Alerts Organizer (HW40 R1.1.9) -

When access alerts that are based on Search results, receive errors.
