As if the city of Baltimore didn't have enough to celebrate following the Ravens' decisive victory over the Dolphins in yesterday's AFC Wildcard game...
Our friends at the Baltimore SharePoint User Group are hosting a special get together this Thursday. SharePoint guru Joel Oleson will be live delivering a presentation entitled 10 Steps to Success, Avoiding Failed SharePoint Deployments. The doors open at 6 pm for food and refreshments. Here are the logistical details:

If you're not familiar with Joel, you may want to take a moment and read our exclusive interview with him from last month. Joel was one of the original members of the SharePoint team at Microsoft, and has gone on to be one of the most widely known evangelists for the platform. Joel is a fascinating individual and a great speaker. Those of us who follow his blog at sharepointjoel.com will remember that Joel recently participated in a crash course for stand up comedy, I'm confident that with very little prodding, we could convince Joel to give us a few minutes of his act in addition to some prescriptive advice for our SharePoint deployments.
It really should be a great little gathering, a terriffic opportunity to network with other SharePoint professionals, and actually meet one of the sharpest guys in the field of collaborative computing. But for those of you in D.C., Northern Virginia, or maybe even up in Philly who may think that Baltimore on a school night is just too much of a hike... we're going to throw in an additional incentive to get you on board. Bamboo will be offering a $500 gift certificate to the Bamboo Online store to be given away to one lucky attendee. That's $500 toward the Web Part or Solution Accelerator of your choice, just for coming out and supporting the SharePoint community. I will also bring a few Bamboo Nation t-shirts and other Bamboo chotchke.
I hope you can join us on Thursday. Please visit the Baltimore SharePoint Users Group site for more information.
