It's always gratifying to hear how our products are helping customers meet their everyday goals in the workplace. We spend a great deal of time developing, testing, and fine-tuning our products, but we never want to lose sight of our end goal - enabling you to improve your business performance through SharePoint. With this in mind, we ask you "How do you Bamboo?" so that we may learn from your experience, and share how our products are having a real impact on real companies.
Name: Michael Smith
Company Info: Fairfield Residential LLC is among the largest and most successful multifamily real estate operating companies in the U.S. We are privately held and provide acquisition, entitlement, development, construction, redevelopment, property management, asset management, and disposition services to our clients.
Product: List Rollup Web Part
Bamboo: How are you using SharePoint in your organization?
Michael: We have two full WSS 3.0 farms and a recently deployed MOSS 2007 farm. We are heavily using SharePoint for collaboration, document management, project management and order tracking.
Bamboo: Why did you choose Bamboo?
Michael: From my time living in the SharePoint world, currently two years, I have witnessed the age old question arise, time and time again, "Should we develop or purchase?" If the development resource is not close at hand and the solution needed is almost immediate, then the simple answer is to purchase. Bamboo is one of companies that I've seen pop up, again and again, when performing searches for web parts. I've seen the company in action at various conferences and [you] really seem to have a handle on [your] products and [your] knowledge of SharePoint as a whole.
Bamboo: What problem did our Web Part solve?
Michael: Our large document management architecture does not allow us to aggregate our data from the various project sites. Bamboo's List Rollup web part is allowing us to create that "central" area to view grouped documents, based on the metadata that is tagged from the content types.
Bamboo: What do you like most about it?
Michael: The List Rollup's configuration allows us to "set it and forget it". As our document libraries are created and configured the same, we can easily set the criteria in the configurator and turn on the "Auto Discovery" or better yet, turn off the "Discovery Scope Limit". This allows me as an administrator to only have to configure the web part once and allow the business to grow without more maintenance for me.
