It seems like I've been telling you that SharePoint Task Master Release 1.1 is coming out so many-many times. Well, it’s here now. I've been evaluating Release 1.1 for over the past few months and I can honestly say it’s a vast improvement from the last version 1.0. It is now available for download on the Bamboo storefront. Don’t take my word for it, download the 15 days trial.
Here are the new features in Task Master R1.1:
Performance – The performance has been improved when you have many tasks on your project schedule.
Collapse & Expand – Have many levels with many sub tasks underneath? Now, you can collapse the Parent Task/Task Summary.
Set interval for Gantt View – This feature is important since there’s time when you want to set your interval for Gantt View between the time frame of start date to end date.
Set working hours & constraints – This feature is definitely important for some organizations since your working hours are not 24 hours and the tasks are not started and ended in order from the top to the bottom. There are tasks where they need to start on a certain date and time or must start no later than a certain date and time.
Please see the following short clip for more visual info. My other blog with the upcoming announcement has some screenshots for illustrating how these functions work also.
Note: If you already had R1.0 -- after installing R1.1 --- in the tool pane by clicking on the Upgrade Task List you can add the new columns to your list. These columns (Constraint Type and Constraint Date) are needed for the new function. After that, you can start using the new version.
Please let us know what you think of the new features as well as any ideas on how we can make it better by posting via the Task Master forum.
