SharePoint Column Validation and Regular Expressions

A few weeks ago, I announced Bamboo's new Validator Column, which lets you create and enforce data input rules on new or existing columns in SharePoint. Rather than just letting you select from a list of predefined input masks (though it has those too), the Validator Column also lets you create custom text masks using "regular expressions". For those of you already not familiar with what these are, or how to use them, Vasili over at Nettuts+ has a great primer on what they are and how to use them. It even includes some common examples of regular expressions you might want to use.

8 Regular Expressions You Should Know

I wasn't familiar with them prior to working on our Validator Column, and had to scour the Interwebs for useful beginner info on them. I just wish I had this post to refer to back then. It would have shortened the learning curve for me considerably. My thanks to Vasili for a great post!
