At the 2009 Microsoft SharePoint Conference, we started talking to some attendees about an exciting new product we'll be releasing soon as a beta in Bamboo Labs. I thought I'd take a minute to let anyone who wasn't there in on the good news. In the next few weeks, Bamboo will be a releasing a new workflow creation and management solution for SharePoint called Bamboo Conductor ™. Bamboo has a long history of providing web parts and solutions that add new features (or improve existing ones) within SharePoint. With Conductor, we're taking the next logical step, and helping our customers leverage SharePoint to quickly and easily automate their business processes.
I'll be posting more details as we get closer to launch, but here's the 10,000 foot view for now:
Conductor is a complete workflow solution for SharePoint that lets users create and centrally manage custom-built workflows, while overcoming some of the limitations of out-of-the-box workflows and custom SharePoint Designer workflows. It includes a web-based, drag-and-drop workflow designer that lets designated users easily create, edit, and reuse workflows across SharePoint. Conductor provides a large selection of pre-built, configurable activities (aka "Widgets") that allow you to build custom workflows that can interact with users, external data, and SharePoint itself to automate simple to complex processes within your organization. Conductor also includes tools for managing all of your workflows, including customizable reporting and the ability to see and manage workflows across your environment. Conductor even leverages Bamboo's MashPoint and our new REST API to make exploring and getting data from external sources like the cloud even easier.
That's it for now, but stay tuned for more details (and some screenshots) as we get closer to beta.
