The Secure Store target application can be used to associate with an external content type or application model, or used with a Business Intelligence Service Application such as SQL Server, Excel Services, or Visio Services to provide access to an external data source.
In the just-released Chart Plus R3.5, Bamboo will provide you the ability to easily do just that!
Here's how it works:
Get an account from Secure Store: Refer to this Microsoft TechNet article on Configuring Secure Store to configure the Secure Store Service for SharePoint Server 2010.
Note: Secure Store Service for SharePoint Service is only available for SharePoint Server 2010 and not for SharePoint Foundation 2010.
Connect to SQL Server by the Secure Store option.
Go to the Modify tool pane, then Click on Data Source Settings, and select the SQL Server Table or View checkbox:

Go to the SQL Server Table or View pane.
To create a connection to the SQL server, you will need to follow these steps:
In Server Name textbox, type the SQL Server Name that you want to use.
In Select SQL Logging Type, choose Get account from Secure Store.
In Target Application ID, type the Target ID that you want to use.

Click Load Databases, and select the Database Name and Table or View that you want to use.
In the X-Axis Category drop-down list, select a column name that you want to use.
In the Y-Axis Series list box, select some columns that you want to use.
Click Preview.
You will see the Chart Plus preview:

Filter charts based on SQL table data using criteria options
Moreover, you can filter data by using criteria options when you need to limit the number of items in Chart Plus.

You can filter with many columns by clicking Add more.

Above is an example of a chart that has been filtered by UnitPrice is greater than 50.
