The new Web Part Connections option in Chart Plus 3.5 gives you the ability to dynamically filter and display data. With Web Part Connections, you connect a Filter Web Part to a List View Web Part to display a subset of data. This gives you two benefits: first, you can easily adjust what data is sent to the Web Part by simply adjusting the filter interface, and second, none of the adjustments actually affect the actual list data, or require the creation of a custom view. In essence, here's how it works:
- The Filter Web Part provides a value.
- The filter value is passed to a column in the List View Web Part by using a Web Part connection.
- The List View Web Part displays only those columns that match the filter value.
You can also use the Web Part Connection with all modes in Chart Plus including:
- SharePoint List or Library
- SQL Server Table or View
- Bamboo List Rollup
- BDC or MashPoint
- Excel Services
In this example, we use a standard SharePoint list called Revenues and connect this list using the Chart Plus Web Part connection as shown below.
From the Chart Plus Web Part drop-down list, select Connections > Consume Filter From > and select the list name:

To complete the Connection:
- Select a field from the Provider Field Name drop-down list.
- Select a field from the Consumer Field Name drop-down list.
- Click the Finish button.

Once your List View Web Part has been added to the page where your Chart Plus Web Part is located, you can dynamically filter based on the selected view. Click on the arrow to select a view. Once a view is selected in the list, the arrow will be bolded. To deselect an item, click on another view.

Here is an example of a chart that has been filtered by the Product 4 view:

Note: Web Part Connections is a good option if you always want to filter on a subset of data. If you want to view all items, use the Runtime Filter option instead.
