Continuing my look at the new features in SharePoint 2010 as demonstrated by Tom Rizzo in his Overview and Sneak Peek video at the official SharePoint 2010 Sneak Peek site, today I'd like to show off two more enhancements.
The first of these is a new feature, and one that I have no doubt is one that many of us have wished for in the past: the ability to mult-select items in a document library:

If I may direct your attention to the contextual ribbon interface in the image above, note that what's currently active in the Library Tools area is the Check Out feature, allowing you to multi-select items from the library, and then do a batch check out on those items with one click. Also note that the same feature is appears to be available in reverse (as would only be logical), with Check In appearing in the Ribbon menu just below Check Out.
Speaking of Check In, another enhancement available in SharePoint 2010 is an improved dialogue interface. Presumably this interface model will be employed for all such dialogue interfaces, but the screenshot I captured which demonstrates the new UI pertains specifically to the Check In functionality:

In keeping with the clean look and feel of SharePoint 2010 in general, note in the image above what I think is a very nice touch: dimming the background of the site, thus bringing the dialogue interface to the fore in a clean, integrated fashion that really pops. Stay tuned for additional blogs on new features and enhancements over the coming days.

About John Anderson
John Anderson joined Bamboo Solutions as Manager of Content & Syndication in May 2008 after a 12-year career at AOL. New to SharePoint at the time of his hiring, John was tasked with creating a new blog for the just-launched Bamboo Nation community in which he would document his daily SharePoint learning process. Thus was born the end user-centric SharePoint Blank, for which John authored 200 posts within a year, and which he continues to write today. Today, John writes SharePoint Blank in addition to his responsibilities as Managing Editor at Bamboo and, while he learned much about SharePoint in his first two years, he gleefully celebrates the release of SharePoint 2010 and the reset button that the new platform represents for SharePoint Blank.
