I know, I know, it has been a while since my last post. Believe me, I have been getting constant (almost hourly) reminders from John and Steve that I need to blog more. After having tons of ideas tossed at me (and finding a way to dodge them all) we finally hit on one that I liked, SharePoint Daily. SPD will be my take on the constantly changing world of SharePoint. Every morning when I make it to the office I plan to search until I can't search no more, all to bring you the latest on SharePoint. If you have looked around much you know that there are too many sites out there for me to be able to cover everything so I will be picking the things that catch my eye. This can include everything from blog posts about anything and everything SharePoint related, news on the industry and events around the globe. I will endeavor to keep things fresh, but from time to time something older may pop up that I feel deserves to be brought to light again. If you find something interesting that I didn't include, please send it to me at chris.dooley@bamboosolutions.com and I'll take a look. I do my best to find great articles, but there will always be the gems that I will miss without your help. And now, without further delay, I bring you the first edition of SharePoint Daily.

HyperOffice Gives Business Users of iPhone the Ability to Share Document With and Without Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint (eMediaWire)
HyperOffice today launched a new public beta of business collaboration tools that do more than connect the first and second-generation Apple iPhones to secure corporate email, contacts, calendars, tasks and notes. This second beta of HyperOffice for the iPhone includes usability enhancements and, more significantly, access to shared documents, using built-in tools that connect to corporate messaging systems and operate as an alternative to Microsoft Exchange and Sharepoint.

Making SL2 Video Player an Encoder Template (Method -of-Failed)
Now that the Silverlight 2 Video Player is available from Codeplex, I wanted to make it a template for Expression Encoder. I'll attempt to articulate the steps below. It's actually pretty trivial. In fact in the current incarnation, you have to throw some extra stuff in there you may not need :-).

Are You a SharePoint Shepherd? (Mauro Cardarelli)
Recently, I coordinated a meeting where I had one client visit another to tell her SharePoint story (from design through implementation, the good and the bad, lessons learned etc.). This is a very powerful experience as users new to SharePoint get to hear the "real" stories around effort, success and challenges and, most importantly, get to hear validation for the value of proper design. Anyway, as I was sitting there, I heard my client make reference to her responsibilities to "shepherd " her users.
Reintroducing Terrarium, Now With 2.0 Goodness! (Fear and Loathing)
A long time ago, on a development team far, far, away, some bright dude (or dudette) came up with the idea of Terrarium. Terrarium was a .NET 1.x game/learning tool that was aimed at getting people interested in .NET and building cool stuff. In Terrarium, you can create herbivores, carnivores, or plants and then introduce them into a peer-to-peer, networked ecosystem where they complete for survival. Terrarium demonstrates some of the features of the .NET Framework, including Windows Forms integration with DirectX®; XML Web services; support for peer-to-peer networking; support for multiple programming languages; the capability to update smart client, or Windows-based, applications via a remote Web server; and the evidence-based and code access security infrastructure.
