(ZDNet) In the PC world, vendors used to say that the hardware and operating system were far less important than the number and variety of applications available for a given platform. (With Web apps’ popularity growing, that adage probably is less true than it used to be.) In the mobile phone world, however, applications still matter. A lot.
Microsoft Debuts Windows Live Essentials Beta (eWeek) Microsoft rolled out the new beta for its Windows Live Essentials, which features multimedia and productivity applications such as Messenger, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Sync, Writer, Mail and Family Safety. Business users may gravitate towards Windows Live Mail, which supports multiple email accounts and brings calendar and RSS feeds onto the platform, and Sync, which allows files to be synchronized across multiple PCs. Despite its traditional base in desktop software, Microsoft has been increasingly focused on cloud-based applications as a vital component of future strategy.

The Gambling Man Who Co-founded Apple and Left for $800 (CNN) Ron Wayne is usually just another gambler at the Nugget Hotel & Casino in Nevada. He comes here a couple of days a week to try his luck on the video poker machine. But on this trip, he drew some curious onlookers, as he was escorted by a CNN camera crew. A gift-shop worker asked him if he's famous. "Well, I'm one of the founders of Apple Computer," Wayne responded.

(AskSharePoint.com) One of SharePoint’s popular features is Document Management, which leads many organizations to migrate their data from files shares or their Document Management System over to SharePoint. SharePoint 2010 Hangs after Visual Studio 2010 F5 Debugging (Darrin Bishop) Lately I have been having some issues with debugging a fairly simple Visual Studio 2010/SharePoint 2010 project. Whenever I deploy the project to the farm, Internet Explorer launches, tries to connect to the SharePoint site and more often than not the web server times out before the debugger is attached and the site is up and running. Occasionally it loads after a long wait period but will normally time out before I get a chance to do any real debugging.
