Gartner Predicts Expansive - but Expensive - Future for SharePoint Apps (ComputerWeekly)
Business applications on Microsoft's SharePoint could become as popular as the iPhone apps within five years, Gartner predicts. The company estimates there could be 20,000 applications available on SharePoint by 2015. A key Microsoft executive working on the company's Windows Phone 7 project dodged many a question about the future of the software but sketched out a basic idea of who Microsoft wants to target with its revamped phones. Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president for Windows Phone program management and design, told All Things D's Walt Mossberg at the D: Dive Into Mobile conference today that Microsoft is trying to steer a middle ground between high-end consumers obsessed with the iPhone and geekier types who have gravitated to Google's Android software. Windows Phone 7 devices have been out for about a month, and while Belfiore wasn't willing to share any sales numbers, he suggested that people are responding to Microsoft's ad campaigns and ease-of-use pitch.

Last week we had a meeting, at one of my customers, to do some knowhow transfer about our current project. In this project I created a site template with several fields and content types to do permission reviews for the systems in this company. Because we have a dependency on the features, I created in this project, I started at the beginning. I described how we have created the fields and how we have created the content types, list templates, etc. Finally we saw the site template, which we can use to create a SharePoint site for our application.
