It looks like this is a great feature but I can´t get the webpart to run. I installed successfully and iisreset then. But when I try to add the webpart on a website I get a error message "The choosen webparts could not be added. Bamboo Cloud webpart: one attribute of this webpart has an invalid format. Windows Sharepoint Services could deseralisize this webpart. Check the format of this attribute and try again" (sorry for bad english, it´s just a free translation from the german error message).

What´s going wrong here?

Hello Usch,

Thank you for using Bamboo Tab Cloud Web Part. Currently, I cannot duplicate this issue. Can you give us more information in details? (Windows os, SharePoint language pack, screenshots,..etc)

Thanks,

Hello Dac,

I too encountered the same error when trying to ad the WebPArt to a WebPart full page,

Unable to add selected web part(s)

Bamboo Tag Cloud WebPart : One of the properties of the Web Part has an incorrect format. Windows SharePoint Services cannot deserialize the Web Part. Check the format of the properties and try again.

I have followed exactly the same procedure as provided by you on Two servers one with WSS 3.0 as well as MOSS 2007

Regards

Saurabh

Hello Saurabh,

Lack of permissions for application pool account can cause Web Parts to not display on home page

If the account used for authenticating the application pool for Windows SharePoint Services does not have read and write permissions to the directory that Windows uses for temporary files, Web Parts may not display properly. When this occurs, the following error message appears:

Web Part Error: One of the properties of the Web Part has an incorrect format. Windows SharePoint Services cannot deserialize the Web Part. Check the format of the properties and try again.

  1. Locate the system temporary directory.
    1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    2. On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables.
    3. In the System variables list, note the directories for TEMP and TMP.
  2. Go to the directories listed for TEMP and TMP.
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. Type the path to folder that contains the folder associated with TEMP and/or TMP, and then click OK.
  3. Right-click on the folder for the temporary directory, and then click Sharing and Security.
  4. On the Security tab, verify that the application pool account for the content virtual server has Read and Write permissions in each of the directories.

For information about configuring the application pool account, see the Windows SharePoint Services Administrator's Guide.

I hope this help you.

Was any able to get this error resolved after following Dac Le's advice or find another resolution?

My app pool account is part of the Administrators group, which has Full Control on every folder. Needless to say, even when I tried specifically adding it to those Temp folders, it still did not resolve the issue.

And please correct me if I am wrong, but the links provided appear to be for WSS 2.0 & SharePoint 2003, not WSS 3.0 & SharePoint (MOSS) 2007. I am guessing the solution would be the same for both, but wasn't sure if there was a specific 3.0 / 2007 fix that I am overlooking.

Here is my system:

Windows Server 2003 SP2

MOSS 2007 SP1 (with Infrastructure update: version 12.0.0.6318) ...... Planning to upgrade to SP2 soon, but I am guessing that wont resolve this issue.

MS Office 2003

Same problem here. Maybe You should provide us a solution to MOSS 2007?

Hi,

I have the same problem. I modified permissions on involved directorys but without success.

However In the MOSS server application event I have this description event:

Failed to load the template file / control _controltemplates / BDF.TagCloud.TagTextFieldEditor.ascx: The resource object with key 'TagTextFieldSettingsTitle is found.

Any plans to resolve this issue?  Looks like a common problem.  I used your installer on a WIndows 2008 server and it seemed to successfully install.

Would really like to use this in the near future.

Hi Justin Fentress,

Sorry for my late reply!
Currently, we have a new version available on http://community.bamboosolutions.com/media/p/17525.aspx . Please try with the latest version and let me know if still has problems.

Thanks,
Dac Le.
