We recently purchases the calendar+ webpart in part for the holiday feature. Like I assume most organizations would have, our Human Resources department maintains the holiday list. Our SharePoint structure has HR in its own site collection and carying other site collections implemented. To my surprise the holiday list is unable to be selected across this boundary.
Is there a functional request to allow the holiday list to be selected from any sharepoint list on any site?
Any thoughts on working around this?

Unfortunately you are correct that the Holiday list selection of Calendar Plus Web Part is limited to only lists that exist in the same site as where the Web Part instance resides. I reviewed our current list of enhance requests and I do not see any requests for this functionality, though I do see the usefulness. I suggest that you add this request to the Feedback tab of the Calendar Plus Web Part product page, found here for future consideration.
A possible workaround is you can use our List Bulk Import Application to syncrohnize items from your Holiday list in the HR site to a temporary list in the site where the Calendar Plus Web Part resides. The List Bulk Import Application has the ability to create new items if they do not exist and update existing items. You can then use List Bulk Import Application for other uses such as import external data source into SharePoint, these external data sources can be Excel files, deliminated files, SQL Database or Access Databases using ODBC connection or another SharePoint site.
