Filtering issues with DVWP

Hello,

I've noticed that when I create a view that filters data based on a date range (showing only items active during a given period), and apply it to the DVWP, the DVWP seems to ignore the filter criteria from the view, taking on the fields list.  Is this correct behavior?

Also, when I attempted to correct for this problem using the Filter fields in the DVWP, I was unable to filter based on the current date (i.e., like the normal WSS views allow one to filter a date using [Today].  What is the correct syntax to accomplish this in the DVWP?

This is something that I have not run across before. I have submitted this to our support team to see if they have any suggestions. I will let you know what I hear.
