We have alerts installed and I am familiar with setting up alerts for the entire list. Is it possible to set alerts on list items?
Would you have an example of a User Interface that allows people to create alerts on list items?
You could configure an alert that alerts on only one item in our Alert Plus web part. You would create the same way you would create one for the whole list (or a List Rollup), but you would configure a CAML query (filter) so only the one item meets the criteria for alerting.
The CAML could specify a certain item ID along with the other conditions of the alert.
There are some types of alerts that aren't good to create programmatically, if that is what you are considering. For example, some alerts will add one or more event handlers to a list. If the alert is created programmatically, rather than through the Alert Plus Web Part, this event handler may not get created.
