Currently, in Beta 2 version, the SharePoint Video Library uses Silverlight and Flash player for video playing.
In some cases, the IIS settings from Windows Server 2003 with IIS 6.0 dont have the MIME type support for Silverlight Application. Thus, the player in Silverlight doesnt work in those cases.
Please follow these steps below for the configuring in IIS for Silverlight Application MIME:
1. Go to Start > Administrative Tools and run IIS Manager, figure below:
2. Right click on the server name and select "Properties", see figure below:
3. In the Properties Dialog, click on the "MIME Types" button, see figure below:
4. In the "MIME Types" Dialog, click the "New" button, see figure below:
5. In the "MIME Type" Dialog enter one MIME Type at the time:
In Windows Server 2008 IIS 7.0 All MIME types needed to support Silverlight are implemented by default in Windows Server 2008 IIS 7.0 and Windows Vista SP1

Hi all,
The issue with the black screen player looks like the uploaded video codec isn't supported by the player. If the uploaded file is in .WMV but its codec is Windows Media Video Screen, the player will not play and stay at 00:00 position.
This is the limitation of MS Silver Light Player: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb412386.aspx#mediaformats_unsupportedformats
To resolve this issue, you could convert the WMV file from the Windows Media Video Screen codec to the another WMV format with the Windows Media Video 7 or above codec.
Hope this help,
Thanks,
Hey there,First place, congratulations for this excelent tool...Sharepoint really needs something like that... I got a sucessfuly installation of the Bamboo Video Library and did video uploads without any problem. When i try play the video, i got a blank screen with all user controls working fine, but the video time is always 00:00/00:00.If i click in video name, i got a windows that allow save or open the video, when i choose open, the video plays normally.I made all steps above about configuring the Mime in IIS 6.0, restarted the server but the issue continue. So, can you help me???Thank you very much...
Hi Binh,
This seems to be an excellent tool and I've been looking for something like this for a long time.. but I'm having the exact same problem that Kadumpires above.. When I try to play a wmv video, all I get is a black screen.. I can see the controls in the player, but the duration of the video is 0:00 and it doesn't play. I have already added the MIME settings that you mentioned, but still it doesn't work. I'm using Internet Explorer 8, Windows Server 2003, I have both Flash and Silverlight installed and working.
Can you please please please suggest a fix? Thanks so much in advance!
Thank you so much that mime fix help but now I'm seeing the play button and other viewer option but the video is not play and time is showing 0:00:00 does anyone have any suggestions
Hi guys,

Hi dp1,
Your system environment is ok for the Video Library when you fixed the MIME issue.
Please note the the Windows Video file in Windows Video Screen codec isn't supported by the SilverLight Player.
Have you tried the standard .WMV format file, codec in Windows Media Video 7 or above?
Hope this can help. Please let us know if you have any concerns with this issue.
Thank's for giving the information of the Beta 2 version, the SharePoint Video Library uses Silverlight and Flash player for video playing.
