Hey folks,

im quite new to WSS/MOSS so maybe I'm missing something really basic.

I have managed to install WSS to Vista Business, I'm able to login to cental admin, i have created a web application ... but now im not able to create site collection. I went throuhg the page, filled the info ... and finally only thing i have seen is the mistake on the screenshot. I'm not able to find any additional info in eventlog. Do you have any advices? Many thanks for your responses.

marekchmel,

Glad to hear that you figured this out.

I have never seen this problem but similar things; the install fails and by reinstalling IIS7 everything works...

Thanks

/Jonas

I encountered the same problem as marekcmel. But did not completely uninstall IIS7 and install everything again.

My case:

Before installing setup helper for WSS and WSS-w-SP1, i have firefox installed on my notebook but not as default browser. After following the steps for setting WSS using helper, i started Sharepoint Central Administration (i dont know why but firefox came up with SCA page) and got marekchmel two scr shot. As i want to use SCA with IE, i uninstalled firefox and run SCA again. IE came up as i wanted and clicked the Application Management on top navbar and the option "Create or extend web application" appeared. To be sure i closed SCA and all IE windows and ran SCA again. The "Create or extend web application" unfortunately went hidden again (dont know why this happen). So, clicked: IE Tools/internet options/Browsing History/Delete/"Delete all" button with the option "Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons" checked. And my problem seems solved.
